In 2022, the Middle Eastern video game console market increased by 20% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. The total consumption indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, video game console exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 40% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United Arab Emirates (X units) and Oman (X units) represented roughly 76% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Israel (X units) and Turkey (X units), together committing a 20% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +100.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest video game console supplying countries in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Oman ($X), with a combined 94% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Israel, with a CAGR of +112.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

The United Arab Emirates prevails in imports structure, recording X units, which was near 72% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Israel (X units), Turkey (X units) and Qatar (X units), together creating a 22% share of total imports. Kuwait (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to video game console imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +2.6%. At the same time, Qatar (+25.4%), Kuwait (+15.2%) and Israel (+10.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +25.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkey (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Qatar, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait increased by +5.3, +4.8, +3.9 and +2.4 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported video game consoles in the Middle East, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 4.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates totaled +7.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+18.0% per year) and Kuwait (+21.4% per year).

In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -9.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
