Moreover, Palestine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +25.9% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates (+4.5 p.p.), Oman (+3.8 p.p.), Israel (+2.3 p.p.), Lebanon (+2.1 p.p.), Palestine (+2 p.p.) and Kuwait (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey saw its share reduced by -21.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates in the Middle East, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Lebanon, with a 5% share.
In Turkey, imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates contracted by an average annual rate of -20.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+5.7% per year) and Lebanon (+24.7% per year).
