In value terms, Oman ($X) emerged as the largest wood fuel supplier in the Middle East, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Palestine ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 9.9% share.

Wood fuel imports declined notably to X cubic meters in 2022, with a decrease of -71.9% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports saw a precipitous contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 141%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wood fuel imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 120%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The United Arab Emirates was the main importer of wood fuel in the Middle East, with the volume of imports reaching X cubic meters, which was near 44% of total imports in 2022. In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wood fuel in the Middle East, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates totaled +17.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+26.5% per year) and Kuwait (+12.3% per year).
