Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the preservative-treated rough wood exports, with a CAGR of +25.3% from 2012 to 2021. The United Arab Emirates (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey increased by +34 percentage points.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest preservative-treated rough wood supplier in the Middle East, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, overseas purchases of preservative-treated rough wood increased by 24% to X cubic meters, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 64%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, preservative-treated rough wood imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 54%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X cubic meters), Oman (X cubic meters) and Yemen (X cubic meters) represented roughly 75% of total imports in 2021. Jordan (X cubic meters) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7.4% share, followed by Kuwait (6.1%). The following importers - Israel (X cubic meters) and the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) - each amounted to an 8% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Jordan (with a CAGR of +20.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest preservative-treated rough wood importing markets in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), Oman ($X) and Yemen ($X), with a combined 84% share of total imports. Jordan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Israel lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.
Among the main importing countries, Jordan, with a CAGR of +16.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per cubic meter in 2021, growing by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per cubic meter), while Israel ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
