Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +32.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 30%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of wood residues, pellets and other agglomerates soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
