In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest wooden frame supplier in the Middle East, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 8.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Iran, with a 6.8% share.

In Turkey, wooden frame exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-14.3% per year) and Iran (+17.5% per year).

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 6.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 29%. In 2021, supplies from abroad of wooden frames for paintings, photographs, mirrors or similar objects increased by 25% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wooden frame imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates (X units) and Israel (X units) represented roughly 49% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Iraq (X units), Turkey (X units), Jordan (X units) and Kuwait (X units), together committing a 39% share of total imports. Oman (X units) took a little share of total imports.

In value terms, Israel ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Jordan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 47% share of total imports.

Jordan, with a CAGR of +21.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 2.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 8.6% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
