After five years of decline, the Middle Eastern wooden particle board market increased by 5.9% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the production volume increased by 9%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the Middle East
In 2021, the amount of wooden particle board exported in the Middle East soared to X cubic meters, with an increase of 16% against the year before. In general, exports enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 58% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wooden particle board exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Israel prevails in exports structure, amounting to X cubic meters, which was near 90% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Palestine (X cubic meters), mixing up a 6.6% share of total exports. Turkey (X cubic meters) took a little share of total exports.
Israel was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wooden particle board exports, with a CAGR of +100.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Palestine (+5.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. In Israel, wooden particle board exports increased at an average annual rate of +97.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Palestine (+0.7% per year) and Turkey (-10.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per cubic meter, jumping by 15% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible shrinkage. The level of export peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Palestine ($X per cubic meter), while Turkey ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (-1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, wooden particle board imports in the Middle East soared to X cubic meters, increasing by 20% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 81%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, wooden particle board imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 85%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Palestine prevails in imports structure, amounting to X cubic meters, which was approx. 76% of total imports in 2021. Kuwait (X cubic meters) held a 7.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (6%). The following importers - Jordan (X cubic meters) and Yemen (X cubic meters) - together made up 4.7% of total imports.
Palestine was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wooden particle board imports, with a CAGR of +76.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kuwait (+54.4%) and Jordan (+9.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Yemen experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Israel (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Palestine (+75 p.p.) and Kuwait (+7.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Yemen and Israel saw its share reduced by -4.4% and -15.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Palestine ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wooden particle board in the Middle East, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kuwait ($X), with an 8% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 5.6% share.
In Palestine, wooden particle board imports expanded at an average annual rate of +76.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kuwait (+43.7% per year) and Israel (-1.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per cubic meter in 2021, picking up by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 27%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per cubic meter), while Yemen ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
