In 2022, purchases abroad of worked slate increased by 46% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, worked slate imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 48%. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons), comprising a 4.7% share of total imports. Lebanon (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
