Exports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) represented the main exporter of man-made filament yarn, generating 82% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), constituting a 10% share of total exports. The following exporters - Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - together made up 5.2% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to man-made filament yarn exports from Turkey stood at -17.5%. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Jordan (-13.0%) and Saudi Arabia (-23.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+8.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Saudi Arabia (-3.7 p.p.) and Turkey (-6.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest man-made filament yarn supplier in the Middle East, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 5.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 2.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey stood at -16.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-1.4% per year) and Jordan (-8.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the largest importer of man-made filament yarn, generating 75% of total imports. Iran (X tons) and Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the man-made filament yarn imports, with a CAGR of +5.5% from 2012 to 2021. In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported man-made filament yarn in the Middle East, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Jordan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 9.3% share.
In Turkey, man-made filament yarn imports increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Jordan (+4.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+3.8% per year).
