Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, shipments abroad of black printing ink decreased by -14.3% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after four years of growth. In general, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 643% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, black printing ink exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 388%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Mauritania (X tons) was the main destination for black printing ink exports from Morocco, accounting for a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, black printing ink exports to Mauritania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), twofold. Kenya (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Mauritania amounted to +9.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cote d'Ivoire (-18.2% per year) and Kenya (+239.9% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for black printing ink exported from Morocco were Mauritania ($X), Kenya ($X) and Senegal ($X), with a combined 72% share of total exports.
Kenya, with a CAGR of +61.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average black printing ink export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 8.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 296%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+25.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Morocco
In 2022, overseas purchases of black printing ink increased by 5.7% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, black printing ink imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +34.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest black printing ink supplier to Morocco, accounting for a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, black printing ink imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), threefold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled +7.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+4.5% per year) and Turkey (+24.5% per year).
In value terms, the largest black printing ink suppliers to Morocco were France ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X), together comprising 36% of total imports. Italy, the UK, China, Turkey, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Turkey, with a CAGR of +20.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average black printing ink import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -6.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 35%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
