Carob Production in Morocco

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 6,583% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

In value terms, carob imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 3,611%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, Algeria (X tons) constituted the largest carob supplier to Morocco, with a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, carob imports from Algeria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Portugal (X tons), sevenfold.
