The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cherry and sour cherry exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 1,230% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Qatar (X tons), Mauritania (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of cherry and sour cherry exports from Morocco, with a combined 70% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Mali and Senegal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

Imports into Morocco

In 2022, the amount of cherries and sour cherries imported into Morocco declined rapidly to X tons, falling by -35.4% on the previous year. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
