Over the period under review, exports recorded a precipitous descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 148%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres declined rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a dramatic descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 94% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Senegal (X kg) was the main destination for exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres from Morocco, with a 95% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres to Senegal exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Benin (X kg), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Senegal amounted to -7.1%.
In value terms, Benin ($X) and Senegal ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibre exported from Morocco worldwide.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Benin, with a CAGR of 0.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres amounted to $X per ton, surging by 28% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 39% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Benin ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Senegal amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guinea (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Morocco
In 2022, the amount of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres imported into Morocco soared to X tons, with an increase of 17% on the year before. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 4,874% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres expanded notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 6,301% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Tanzania (X tons), Kenya (X tons) and Madagascar (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres to Morocco, with a combined 83% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Tanzania (with a CAGR of +91.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Tanzania, with a CAGR of +84.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average import price for coconut, abaca, ramie and other vegetable textile fibres stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
