In value terms, domestic appliances exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports enjoyed a resilient expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Spain (X units) was the main destination for domestic appliances exports from Morocco, accounting for a 18% share of total exports. Moreover, domestic appliances exports to Spain exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Libya (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire (X units), with a 1.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Spain amounted to +74.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Libya (+21.7% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+58.1% per year).

In value terms, Spain ($X), Mauritania ($X) and Libya ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for domestic appliances exported from Morocco worldwide, together accounting for 21% of total exports. These countries were followed by Algeria, Cote d'Ivoire, the United States, Belgium and France, which together accounted for a further 14%.

Algeria, with a CAGR of +76.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average domestic appliances export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -50.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a sharp slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 115%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mauritania ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (-2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Domestic appliances imports into Morocco skyrocketed to X units in 2021, growing by 27% against 2020 figures. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +103.9% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China (X units), Turkey (X units) and Egypt (X units) were the main suppliers of domestic appliances imports to Morocco, together accounting for 86% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Egypt (with a CAGR of +12.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Turkey ($X) and Poland ($X) were the largest domestic appliances suppliers to Morocco, with a combined 62% share of total imports.

Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while the price for Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
