Mauritania (X cubic meters) was the main destination for fiberboard exports from Morocco, accounting for a 64% share of total exports. Moreover, fiberboard exports to Mauritania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Spain (X cubic meters), fourfold. France (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Mauritania amounted to +83.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+33.5% per year) and France (-1.1% per year).
In value terms, Mauritania ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials exports from Morocco, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Mauritania amounted to +60.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (-1.4% per year) and Spain (+69.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average fiberboard export price amounted to $X per cubic meter, falling by -53.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 139% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Mauritania ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Senegal (+62.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Morocco
In 2022, imports of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials into Morocco declined slightly to X cubic meters, standing approx. at 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 62%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X cubic meters, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 89%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X cubic meters) constituted the largest fiberboard supplier to Morocco, with a 53% share of total imports. Moreover, fiberboard imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X cubic meters), twofold. Portugal (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Turkey stood at +54.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+11.7% per year) and Portugal (+1.1% per year).
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials to Morocco, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Portugal, with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Turkey totaled +52.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+15.9% per year) and Portugal (+5.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average fiberboard import price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, rising by 17% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per cubic meter), while the price for China ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
