Exports from Morocco

In 2022, exports of fork-lift trucks from Morocco reduced markedly to X units, waning by -56.4% on the year before. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 11,961% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fork-lift truck exports plummeted to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 112%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Exports by Country

France (X units) was the main destination for fork-lift truck exports from Morocco, with a 69% share of total exports. Moreover, fork-lift truck exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mauritania (X units), threefold. Senegal (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to France amounted to +16.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mauritania (+48.0% per year) and Senegal (+12.7% per year).

In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for fork-lift trucks exports from Morocco, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mauritania ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to France stood at +20.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mauritania (+50.9% per year) and Spain (-0.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average fork-lift truck export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 66% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 66,986% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Senegal (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Morocco

For the fourth year in a row, Morocco recorded decline in overseas purchases of fork-lift trucks, which decreased by -6.5% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fork-lift truck imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +72.1% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 34%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest fork-lift truck supplier to Morocco, with a 74% share of total imports. Moreover, fork-lift truck imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), more than tenfold. Spain (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+6.2% per year) and Spain (-15.0% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the largest fork-lift truck suppliers to Morocco, with a combined 57% share of total imports.

China, with a CAGR of +6.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fork-lift truck import price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -4.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 25%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
