The second position in the ranking was taken by Ethiopia ($X), with a 9.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Burkina Faso, with a 3.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Spain amounted to -3.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ethiopia (0.0% per year) and Burkina Faso (+24.9% per year).

In general, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 146%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, hedge shear imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +65.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 49%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest hedge shear supplier to Morocco, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, hedge shear imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), fivefold.
