Imports into Morocco

In 2021, imines imports into Morocco expanded notably to X tons, with an increase of 9.5% compared with 2020. In general, imports showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 81%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imines imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2015 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last six years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -1.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Imports by Country

In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of imines to Morocco, with a 48% share of total imports. Moreover, imines imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), fourfold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.4% share.

From 2015 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from India totaled +14.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-12.5% per year) and China (+17.2% per year).

In value terms, the largest imines suppliers to Morocco were India ($X), France ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports.

Spain, with a CAGR of +76.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
