As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mechanical shovel and excavator imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X units), South Korea (X units) and Belgium (X units) were the main suppliers of mechanical shovel and excavator imports to Morocco, with a combined 54% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the UK, France, Japan, India, Germany, Spain, Italy, the United States and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 38%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +78.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
