Quince Market Size in Morocco
The Moroccan quince market shrank modestly to $X in 2021, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, quince exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a dramatic slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 239% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Spain (X kg), Mauritania (X kg) and Canada (X kg) were the main destinations of quince exports from Morocco, together accounting for 90% of total exports. Niger, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.8%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bahrain (with a CAGR of +14.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for quince exports from Morocco, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Bahrain, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada stood at -25.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (+2.4% per year) and Bahrain (+18.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average quince export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -3.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 50% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mauritania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+43.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Morocco
For the tenth year in a row, Morocco recorded growth in purchases abroad of quinces, which increased by 125% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports showed a resilient increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, quince imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a prominent expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Spain (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of quince imports to Morocco.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey stood at $X per ton.
