The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 261%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Mauritania (X tons) was the main destination for refined groundnut oil exports from Morocco, with a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, refined groundnut oil exports to Mauritania exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Cabo Verde (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Mauritania amounted to -12.7%.

In value terms, the largest markets for refined groundnut oil exported from Morocco were Mauritania ($X) and Cabo Verde ($X).

Cabo Verde, with a CAGR of -2.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review.

Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Mauritania amounted to $X per ton.

In general, imports recorded a precipitous slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 276%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, refined groundnut oil imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports faced a dramatic shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 170% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Spain (X kg) constituted the largest refined groundnut oil supplier to Morocco, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, refined groundnut oil imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X kg), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belgium (X kg), with a 19% share.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
