Refrigerated Show-Cases Market Size in Morocco

In 2022, the Moroccan refrigerated show-cases market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. In general, the total consumption indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. In value terms, refrigerated show-cases exports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 158%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

France (X units), Mauritania (X units) and Congo (X units) were the main destinations of refrigerated show-cases exports from Morocco, together comprising 83% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +28.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X), Mauritania ($X) and Congo ($X) constituted the largest markets for refrigerated show-cases exported from Morocco worldwide, with a combined 87% share of total exports.

France, with a CAGR of +30.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average refrigerated show-cases export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 39% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 126%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Gambia (+102.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Morocco

In 2022, supplies from abroad of refrigerated show-caseses increased by 35% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, refrigerated show-cases imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Turkey (X units), Italy (X units) and Egypt (X units) were the main suppliers of refrigerated show-cases imports to Morocco, together accounting for 63% of total imports. Spain, France, Hungary, China, the United Arab Emirates, Romania and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +112.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average refrigerated show-cases import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 41%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) and France ($X per unit), while the price for Romania ($X per unit) and Greece ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
