France (X tons), the United States (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of preserved sardines exports from Morocco, together comprising 24% of total exports. The Netherlands, Nigeria, Gabon, Mauritania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Germany, Angola, Cote d'Ivoire and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.

In 2022, the amount of sardines (prepared or preserved) imported into Morocco skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 130% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 77,794%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, preserved sardines imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 27,075%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Spain (X tons), the UK (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) were the main suppliers of preserved sardines imports to Morocco, with a combined 87% share of total imports.
