For the fourth consecutive year, the Myanmar's diagnostic equipment market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -59.5% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption faced a abrupt curtailment. Diagnostic equipment consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Exports from Myanmar

In 2021, shipments abroad of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 169% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, diagnostic equipment exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 62%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Vietnam (X units), China (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the main destinations of diagnostic equipment exports from Myanmar, with a combined 97% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +40.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, China ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Singapore ($X) were the largest markets for diagnostic equipment exported from Myanmar worldwide, with a combined 95% share of total exports. Chile, Malaysia and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 2.8%.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+33.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X units), with an 8.5% share.
