The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 0.6% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen freshwater fish exports from Myanmar, with a combined 53% share of total exports. Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, Qatar, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Oman, Kuwait, the United States and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +57.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), Thailand ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest markets for frozen freshwater fish exported from Myanmar worldwide, together accounting for 53% of total exports. These countries were followed by Singapore, the UK, India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Kuwait and Oman, which together accounted for a further 40%.

Malaysia, with a CAGR of +48.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average frozen freshwater fish export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -4.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 1% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, Thailand (X tons) constituted the largest frozen freshwater fish supplier to Myanmar, accounting for a 69% share of total imports. Moreover, frozen freshwater fish imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X tons), threefold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Thailand stood at +66.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (-8.2% per year) and India (+25.7% per year).

In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of frozen freshwater fish to Myanmar, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Thailand stood at +81.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+18.5% per year) and Indonesia (+0.9% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
