Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Bangladesh (X tons) was the main destination for iron or steel bridges exports from Myanmar, accounting for a 93% share of total exports. Moreover, iron or steel bridges exports to Bangladesh exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2015 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Bangladesh stood at +58.1%.
In value terms, Bangladesh ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for iron or steel bridges and bridge-sections exports from Myanmar, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with an 8% share of total exports.
From 2015 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Bangladesh totaled +56.7%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average iron or steel bridges export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -17.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh totaled $X per ton.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+37.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Myanmar
After five years of decline, purchases abroad of iron or steel bridges and bridge-sections increased by 213% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, iron or steel bridges imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest iron or steel bridges supplier to Myanmar, accounting for a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, iron or steel bridges imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), twofold. Japan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled -7.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+38.6% per year) and Japan (+16.2% per year).
In value terms, Japan ($X), China ($X) and Thailand ($X) were the largest iron or steel bridges suppliers to Myanmar, with a combined 97% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Thailand, with a CAGR of +35.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average iron or steel bridges import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (-2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
