Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then plummeted in the following year.

In value terms, malt imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 227% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest malt supplier to Myanmar, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, malt imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Australia (X tons), fourfold.
