Spice Market Size in Myanmar

In 2022, the Myanmar's spice market increased by X% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, saw a pronounced descent. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Spice Production in Myanmar

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, spice exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded perceptible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

China (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main destinations of spice exports from Myanmar, with a combined X% share of total exports. Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
