The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2020, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X kg) and Thailand (X kg) were the main destinations of sweet potato exports from Myanmar. Moreover, sweet potato exports in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest exporter, Thailand, more than tenfold.

In 2020, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of sweet potatoes, when their volume decreased by -41.5% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 3,781%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, sweet potato imports declined to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 1,753%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019, and then fell in the following year.
