The Myanmar's uncooked pasta market shrank to $X in 2021, falling by -7.2% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a perceptible descent. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In general, total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, uncooked pasta exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +101.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 49%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

India (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons) were the main destinations of uncooked pasta exports from Myanmar, together accounting for 60% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +99.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for uncooked pasta exported from Myanmar worldwide, together comprising 48% of total exports.

Based on 2021 figures, uncooked pasta export price increased by +75.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 38%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+72.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of uncooked pasta imported into Myanmar expanded slightly to X tons, picking up by 4% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +91.6% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 35%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Thailand (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of uncooked pasta imports to Myanmar, with a combined 92% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +63.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of uncooked pasta to Myanmar, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 27% share of total imports. It was followed by Australia, with a 3.4% share.

The average uncooked pasta import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 38% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
