Microwave oven imports into Nepal contracted notably to X units in 2022, reducing by -23.4% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 235% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, microwave oven imports declined notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 264%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of microwave oven to Nepal, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, microwave oven imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Malaysia (X units), with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+47.5% per year) and Malaysia (+12.0% per year).

In value terms, India ($X), China ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the largest microwave oven suppliers to Nepal, together comprising 98% of total imports.

India, with a CAGR of +48.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country
