Radio Receiver Market Size in Nepal

In 2022, the Nepalese radio receiver market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, consumption showed a strong expansion. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, radio receiver exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 1,375%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Singapore (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) were the main destinations of radio receiver exports from Nepal. Moreover, radio receiver exports in Singapore exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest exporter, the Netherlands, twofold.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +14.9%).

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the key foreign market for radio receivers exports from Nepal, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Singapore amounted to +21.6%.

Export Prices by Country

The average radio receiver export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 354%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands totaled $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Radio Receiver Imports

Imports into Nepal

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of radio receivers, when their volume increased by 44% to X units. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 136% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, radio receiver imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) was the main radio receiver supplier to Nepal, with a 96% share of total imports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR (X units), with a 2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +3.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+34.6% per year) and India (-12.6% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of radio receivers to Nepal, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 4.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +10.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+24.8% per year) and India (-10.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average radio receiver import price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -35.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 129% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
