Germany (X tons) was the main destination for carbides exports from the Netherlands, with a 89% share of total exports. Moreover, carbides exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by France (X tons), with a 0.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to -2.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+44.8% per year) and France (-21.7% per year).

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+36.5% per year) and France (-24.4% per year).

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of carbides, when their volume decreased by -23.8% to X tons. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +4.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 95%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, carbides imports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 372%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), South Africa (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of carbides imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 77% share of total imports. Brazil, Germany, Russia, Vietnam and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +75.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest carbides suppliers to the Netherlands were South Africa ($X), China ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 76% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, China, with a CAGR of +59.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
