Switzerland (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of sour cherry exports from the Netherlands, with a combined 88% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the Netherlands
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of sour cherries decreased by -23.6% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 750%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, sour cherry imports plummeted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 384%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main suppliers of sour cherry imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 80% share of total imports. The Czech Republic, Spain and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +106.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Belgium ($X) were the largest sour cherry suppliers to the Netherlands, together accounting for 83% of total imports.
