For the fourth year in a row, the Dutch coconut market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -24.4% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption continues to indicate a deep setback. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Thailand ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest coconut suppliers to the Netherlands, together accounting for 80% of total imports. Vietnam, Spain, Costa Rica, Belgium, France and Sri Lanka lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +36.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average coconut import price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -7.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
