The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +38.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 60%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, concentrated pineapple juice imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +121.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 92%. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Thailand (X tons), Costa Rica (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the main suppliers of concentrated pineapple juice imports to the Netherlands, together accounting for 53% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Philippines, Brazil, Kenya, South Africa and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +32.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest concentrated pineapple juice suppliers to the Netherlands were Thailand ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Costa Rica ($X), together accounting for 56% of total imports. Brazil, the Philippines, Kenya, South Africa and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

In general, the import price continues to indicate a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 46% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
