Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +28.9% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, domestic appliances exports rose to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Germany (X units) was the main destination for domestic appliances exports from the Netherlands, with a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, domestic appliances exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X units), threefold. France (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany amounted to +19.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+0.5% per year) and France (+12.7% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for domestic appliances exports from the Netherlands, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +23.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+5.3% per year) and France (+13.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average domestic appliances export price amounted to $X per unit, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, domestic appliances export price increased by +60.3% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2021, the amount of domestic appliances imported into the Netherlands totaled X units, growing by 12% against 2020. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +39.6% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 38%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, domestic appliances imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest domestic appliances supplier to the Netherlands, accounting for a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, domestic appliances imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), fourfold. Belgium (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +17.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+5.4% per year) and Belgium (+2.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of domestic appliances to the Netherlands, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +18.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+7.5% per year) and Malaysia (+52.6% per year).

In 2021, the average domestic appliances import price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 4.6% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the price for Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
