The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 34%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, battered fish fillet exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 31%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of battered fish fillet exports from the Netherlands, together comprising 68% of total exports. The UK, France, Denmark, Sweden, Spain and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +38.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average battered fish fillet export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -3.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs increased by 7.7% to X tons, rising for the fourth year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 15%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, battered fish fillet imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +62.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of battered fish fillet to the Netherlands, with a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, battered fish fillet imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X tons), twofold. Denmark (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+60.2% per year) and Denmark (+0.9% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs to the Netherlands, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Denmark, with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany amounted to +3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+42.9% per year) and Denmark (-0.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average battered fish fillet import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 1.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
