The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 760% against the previous year. Greece (X tons), France (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of fish meals and pellet exports from the Netherlands, together comprising 88% of total exports. These countries were followed by Israel, the UK and Denmark, which together accounted for a further 7.8%.

In value terms, fish meals and pellet imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 268%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, Iceland (X tons) constituted the largest fish meals and pellet supplier to the Netherlands, with a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, fish meals and pellet imports from Iceland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), fourfold. Norway (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
