Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine exports from the Netherlands, with a combined 60% share of total exports. The UK, Spain, Norway and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +206.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average export price for fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -14.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2021, purchases abroad of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines increased by 64% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 138%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 785%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine supplier to the Netherlands, accounting for a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), twofold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belgium totaled +35.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+206.6% per year) and Germany (+45.0% per year).
