In value terms, China ($X) remains the key foreign market for food preparations for infants exports from the Netherlands, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 4.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 2.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to China stood at +23.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hong Kong SAR (-15.5% per year) and Russia (-2.1% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2021, imports of food preparations for infants into the Netherlands dropped sharply to X tons, waning by -31.4% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 108% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, baby food imports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Ireland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of baby food imports to the Netherlands, together accounting for 82% of total imports. These countries were followed by Sweden, Spain, Switzerland and Poland, which together accounted for a further 15%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Sweden (with a CAGR of +55.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Ireland ($X), Germany ($X) and Sweden ($X) constituted the largest baby food suppliers to the Netherlands, with a combined 79% share of total imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
