In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in the Dutch fork-lift truck market, when its value decreased by -54.2% to $X. In value terms, fork-lift truck exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for fork-lift truck exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a 27% share of total exports. Moreover, fork-lift truck exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by France (X units), with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +9.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+3.9% per year) and France (+8.3% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and Italy ($X) were the largest markets for fork-lift truck exported from the Netherlands worldwide, with a combined 39% share of total exports. France, the UK, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, Austria and Norway lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

Romania, with a CAGR of +17.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fork-lift truck export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Norway ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fork-lift trucks increased by 11% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports showed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, fork-lift truck imports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Germany (X units), Belgium (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of fork-lift truck imports to the Netherlands, together accounting for 55% of total imports. The United States, Vietnam, Ireland, Finland, Poland, Italy, Malaysia, France, Spain and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +99.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest fork-lift truck suppliers to the Netherlands were Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and Finland ($X), with a combined 51% share of total imports.

The average fork-lift truck import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -11.7% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fork-lift truck import price decreased by -41.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 47%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per unit), while the price for Vietnam ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
