Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
The UK (X tons) was the main destination for plaster exports from the Netherlands, with a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, plaster exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belgium (X tons), with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK stood at +47.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+9.2% per year) and Belgium (-0.6% per year).

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the UK ($X per ton) and Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) and Spain ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2022, approx. X tons of plaster were imported into the Netherlands; increasing by 3.1% compared with the year before. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 71%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of plaster imports to the Netherlands, together comprising 96% of total imports. Spain lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 2.3%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +83.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, plaster import price increased by +42.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 45%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
