The average optical telescope export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight shrinkage. Imports into the Netherlands
For the third consecutive year, the Netherlands recorded growth in overseas purchases of optical telescopes, which increased by 57% to X units in 2021. In general, imports saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 69% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, optical telescope imports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 135%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell significantly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest optical telescope supplier to the Netherlands, with a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, optical telescope imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Israel (X units), with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +8.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+52.8% per year) and Israel (+237.9% per year).
