Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for phosphinates and phosphonates exports from the Netherlands, with a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, phosphinates and phosphonates exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with an 8.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +23.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+27.1% per year) and Italy (+15.5% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for phosphinates (hypophosphites) and phosphonates (phosphites) exports from the Netherlands, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 6.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +21.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+25.3% per year) and Italy (+10.8% per year).

In 2022, the average phosphinates and phosphonates export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 43% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2022, supplies from abroad of phosphinates (hypophosphites) and phosphonates (phosphites) decreased by -39.1% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 157%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, phosphinates and phosphonates imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 220%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Belgium (X tons), France (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of phosphinates and phosphonates imports to the Netherlands, together accounting for 93% of total imports. Italy and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5.4%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +69.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X), France ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the largest phosphinates and phosphonates suppliers to the Netherlands, together comprising 92% of total imports. Italy and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 6.8%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
