Over the period under review, total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +94.1% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 35%. In 2022, South Africa (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plum and sloe to the Netherlands, with a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, plum and sloe imports from South Africa exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Chile (X tons), with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from South Africa was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (-1.9% per year) and Chile (-15.4% per year).
