The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +53.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 71%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.

Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of polypropylene in primary forms exports from the Netherlands, together accounting for 68% of total exports. Poland, France, Spain, the UK, Austria, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Spain ($X per ton) and the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Luxembourg ($X per ton) and Belgium ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of polypropylene in primary forms decreased by -21% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, polypropylene in primary forms imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Belgium (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main suppliers of polypropylene in primary forms imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 63% share of total imports. Saudi Arabia, Austria, Italy and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
