Postcard Market Size in the Netherlands

The Dutch postcard market shrank to $X in 2021, which is down by -5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of postcard exports from the Netherlands, together accounting for 82% of total exports. The UK, Italy, Norway, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 582% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of printed or illustrated postcards and printed cards imported into the Netherlands rose rapidly to X tons, growing by 9.7% against the previous year. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
