Imports into the Netherlands
Rennet imports into the Netherlands contracted to X tons in 2021, dropping by -11.1% on the previous year. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 265% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, rennet imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 242%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of rennet to the Netherlands, with a 82% share of total imports. Moreover, rennet imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Japan (X tons), with a 4.9% share.
