Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices to Belgium ($X per unit) and Lithuania ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per unit) and the UK ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into the Netherlands
Starter motor imports into the Netherlands rose rapidly to X units in 2021, picking up by 14% against 2020. Overall, imports showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, starter motor imports rose to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 38%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Japan (X units), China (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of starter motor imports to the Netherlands, together comprising 79% of total imports. Poland, Thailand, Italy, the United States and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
